It is officially March and I think each school year goes faster and faster, I can't believe it's already March. Is it sad that I'm already thinking I only have 3 more months with my class?? I really love this year's class and I have awesome parents. They almost make me consider looping to 3rd grade...almost. Here's what's currently going through my head for March!
Let's check out some pictures from this week. Here's what went down for multicultural night.
Here's our dragon in his finished glory! He was talked about quite a bit!
We hung lots of paper lanterns that our 2nd graders made (we only kept them up for the few hours since our fire marshal would not approve, luckily he didn't show up that night!)
Our sweet Art teacher put up Japanese calligraphy and gave demonstrations to parents and kiddos as they came by.
When kiddos came to visit Asia they also cut out tangrams and tried to solve several puzzles. It was a huge hit, at one point I couldn't even see the rug, there were so many people on it!
This was one of my favorite activities that the EC teachers came up with, not really educational but so fun! Pin the pole on the south pole!
The first grade teachers had a kangaroo hop (their continent was Australia). They put two of these papers on the floor as far apart as a really kangaroo can jump. The kiddos tried to see how many jumps it took them to jump as far as a kangaroo.
I only had a few pictures from Read Across America Day that didn't include pictures of kiddos who can't have pictures posted online. I also didn't take as many as I wanted since our day was slammed packed with activities. But we did focus on the Lorax in the afternoon. This was our version of Truffula trees, if I do this craft next year I will need bigger pom-poms. A parent brought these in so I just used what we had but they were a little tiny. Hot gluing the pom poms was also not my favorite part.
And each student made a Lorax mustache, they also wrote what they would do if they were the Lorax. I plan on printing out their pictures and putting it with their writing.
If you haven't already, you can still leave a comment on yesterday's post for a chance to win Life Cycles! I will pick a winner tomorrow!
