Magic Tree House Unit

Next week is our Magic Tree House unit and I am super excited because I LOVE this series. I just finished putting together a packet of materials I am going to use next week during the unit.  It's on sale for $4.00 on TPT and you can grab it by clicking on the picture below.  The packet includes lots of cute and fun activities, a great fact scavenger hunt and materials to accompany a take home project you can find on http://www.magictreehouse.com.  If you have never been to that website, check it out!  It has tons of free materials!
I also wanted to give you a peek into my classroom this week.  Here are some pictures of what we've been up to.  I have been crazy for posters lately!
We said GOODBYE to the word said and introduced these sweet words instead!

We are getting our Earth day on with the 3 R's! (This poster was still in the making, we have been adding to it all week)

We created this cute little craftivitiy from The Lesson Plan Diva via Sunny Days in Second Grade's Earth Day Freebie Linky Party.
We are working on subtraction with borrowing and this saying has been going around!

And last but not least, homophone practice during literacy block.  I handed out homophone pairs, the kiddos paired up and created these awesome posters!  Tomorrow is Friday everyone, yeah!

A few things from this week

This week was not my best week since my mind has definitely been on spring break but I thought I would share some posters we made.  We read A Curve in the River from our Houghton Mifflin series,  and after we wrote our own messages in a bottle.  The paper was a little big to put the caps on our bottles and I said we wouldn't throw them in a river because that would be littering but they still loved them.  Here's my pre-writing activity (don't make fun of my person, I am terrible at drawing people).

We also learned a little about technology, and I learned that my kiddos are technology crazy!  They know way more than I did at their age. Here is the poster we made during our discussion.

We also reviewed ways to write a number.  Here is what my kiddos came up with during math.

And I couldn't help myself, for Fun Friday we made a cute bunny card since Easter is quickly approaching.    They were just too cute and their notes they wrote on the inside were even cuter. Isn't the thumbprint bunny just adorable??

How cute is the tail???  I can't take it!  Well, I hope everyone had a great week, I am officially on Spring Break!!! : )
