About Me

Thanks for visiting Primary Punch!  This blog follows my journey as a teacher turned SLP! My name is Deana Kahlenberg.

I was a classroom teacher in North Carolina for 7 years. I have taught three years of 1st grade, three years of 2nd grade and one year in a Title I position serving 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade in ELA and Math!  I recently married my wonderful husband who also taught elementary school too!

We have a beautiful baby boy named Camden, who you may see floating around the blog from time to time! He likes to help me try out my newest creations. : )

My husband and I both graduated from Longwood University with our masters in speech-language pathology and are both working as school-based SLPs. Content on the blog will range from speech and education related since they can be so entwined! As a speech-pathologist I spent my CF year working as a private pediatric speech-languague pathologist with kiddos from 1.5 years old to 7 years old. For the 2015-2016 school year I accepted a job as an SLP back in the school system with grades pre-k-5th.

Please let me know if you found any of the information on Primary Punch useful in your classroom or therapy setting.  If you are looking for any specific resources or have any questions you can e-mail me at deana.kahlenberg@gmail.com and I'd be happy to work together to find or create what you need!
